For most of history, getting older came with an obvious advantage.
You knew things younger people didn’t.
If they wanted to know how something worked, how to fix something, how to grow something, how to get through something — they asked someone who had been around longer.
Grandads were tailor-made for this.
That’s changed.
Google knows more than I do.
AI knows more than I do.
YouTube can show my grandson how to do things I’ve never done.
So what is Grandad still good for?
I’ve been thinking about that question.
Not because I think getting older makes us wiser. It doesn’t.
But a longer life does give you something a child can’t download.
